Job Description

Our client is a fully accredited hospital providing a broad range of services to the community. As the hospital grows, they are seeking a hands-on Senior HR Officer to manage day-to-day human resource operations across clinical and non-clinical departments. This role is based in Maua Town, Meru, Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure the hospital remains compliant with labor laws and healthcare industry regulations at all times.

- Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle including onboarding, confirmation and exit interviews.

- Develop, update and enforce HR policies in line with the Employment Act (Kenya) and operational standards.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.

- Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration and leave management in coordination with finance.

- Track and manage attendance for both directly employed and outsourced staff across all hospital departments.

- Liaise with department heads to identify and address workforce needs.

- Handle disciplinary processes in accordance with hospital policy and applicable law.

- Resolve workplace conflicts promptly and impartially, maintaining confidentiality.

- Implement and sustain employee engagement initiatives that support retention.

- Coordinate onboarding and role-specific training programs for new hires on all areas.

- Support departmental managers in running performance appraisals and developing employee improvement plans.

- Enforce compliance with Health & Safety regulations applicable to a clinical environment.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management or a related field.

* Minimum 7 years of practical HR experience. Prior experience in a hospital, clinic or healthcare setting is an added advantage.

* Working knowledge of Kenya's Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, OSHA and compliance requirements.

* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with HR Information Systems (HRIS).

* Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) Kenya is desirable.
